KymaFlow is a general freight marketplace. Our drivers use ordinary road vehicles and do not hold dangerous-goods endorsements unless individually stated. This policy sets out what may not be booked through the platform. It forms part of our Terms of Service, and the sender is responsible for knowing what is in their consignment.
1. Never permitted
These may not be sent through KymaFlow under any circumstances:
- Firearms, ammunition, explosives and restricted weapons, including parts, replicas and airguns requiring a licence.
- Illicit drugs and controlled substances, precursor chemicals, and drug-manufacturing equipment.
- Dangerous goods requiring placarding or a dangerous-goods endorsement under Land Transport Rule 45001 — including bulk fuels, LPG and compressed gas cylinders, corrosives, oxidisers, poisons and radioactive material.
- Loose lithium batteries shipped on their own, and any damaged, swollen or recalled battery.
- Live animals, and any biological, medical or laboratory specimen.
- Human remains or body parts, including ashes.
- Cash, bullion, negotiable instruments and prepaid cards or vouchers of significant value.
- Stolen goods, or goods you are not lawfully entitled to move.
- Counterfeit goods, and items infringing trade marks or copyright.
- Objectionable material under the Films, Videos, and Publications Classification Act.
- Unlawful tobacco or alcohol, and any excisable goods being moved to avoid duty.
- Waste requiring a licensed handler, including asbestos, clinical waste and contaminated soil.
- Anything whose transport would break New Zealand law, breach a biosecurity or quarantine restriction, or breach a court order.
2. Permitted only by prior arrangement
These can be carried, but only where the sender states it in the job description and the driver accepts it explicitly. A driver who arrives to find one of these undeclared may refuse the job, and the cancellation is treated as the sender's.
- High-value single items above NZ$2,000 — jewellery, art, and similar. Our escrow covers the job price, not the value of the goods.
- Fragile or uninsurable items — glass, ceramics, screens, antiques.
- Perishable and chilled goods, which need a stated timeframe and, where relevant, refrigeration.
- Consumer quantities of flammable liquids such as a sealed jerry can, where the vehicle and route allow.
- Medicines and prescription items, sealed and lawfully supplied.
- Vehicles, machinery and engines containing fuel or oil, which must be drained or sealed.
- Loads exceeding the vehicle's rated capacity, or requiring a permit for size or weight.
3. A driver may always refuse
Drivers are independent operators and carry personal legal responsibility for their load. A driver may decline any consignment they believe is unsafe, unlawful, beyond their vehicle's capacity, or materially different from what was described — including at the point of pickup, after accepting the job. Refusing on these grounds does not count against the driver's reliability rating.
4. If a prohibited item is found
- The job may be stopped at any point, including in transit.
- Escrowed funds are held pending review under our Dispute Resolution Policy, and the sender may forfeit the job price where a driver has already travelled.
- The sending account may be suspended or permanently removed.
- We may notify New Zealand Police, Customs, or the Ministry for Primary Industries, and provide the records we hold.
4.1 Costs
A sender who books a prohibited item is responsible for any resulting cost, including fines issued to the driver, disposal or storage charges, and cleaning or repair where the item damages a vehicle.
5. If you are not sure
Ask before you book. Contact us with a description of the item and we will tell you whether it can be carried and what needs to be declared. Asking first is always treated more favourably than an undeclared item found at pickup.
